Africa does not have a youth potential problem but an institutional trust problem.
The question is no longer whether young people are capable, but whether our systems are willing to listen, trust, and create space for them to shape the future.
#YouLead2026
Grateful to take part in the 2025 Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Young Citizens Forum. It’s a pillar for structured and relevant civic engagement. We discussed how restitution, memory, and justice shape our present. As a 2022 alumnus, the forum remains a network for inquiry and action.
Thanks to @Hilda4ya and @GoodluckPaul14 for having me on Morning Trumpet. We discussed #COP30, unpacking how COP works, Tanzania’s climate efforts, and the political-economic dynamics shaping global climate negotiations. I look forward to sharing some video highlights as well.
Tulizungumza mengi, ikiwemo maana na umuhimu wa mkutano huu, nafasi ya Tanzania katika utekelezaji wa NDCs, changamoto za ufadhili, na mizania baina ya “wafadhili” na “wapokeaji.”
Tanzania must balance global economic integration with local ownership of its priorities. Bridging this policy trilemma between hyper-globalisation, the nation state, and democracy will define the next development chapter as well.
Yesterday, I joined the EU-Civil Society Roadmap (2025–2027) Consultation hosted by the European Union Delegation to Tanzania, focusing on three EU Global Gateway priorities, which are agriculture value chains, digitalisation, and critical minerals.
I observed a semantic and structural gap between CSOs and the private sector. While CSOs advance social justice and accountability, many of them still lack the business models and frameworks to actively interact with investors and markets that drive these priorities.
We can’t respond to a project of fear with fear—we need a project of hope. During the 2025 GLU Alumni Workshop at Uni Kassel, I presented on labour and energy justice. Unions shouldn’t only resist changes but also lead in creating fair, democratic, and inclusive transformations.
Thank you to the organisers, fellow panellists, and every young person who contributed to the conversation.
The vision is documented. Now, let us collaborate to make it visible!
Happy International Youth Month :)
Tanzania’s Development Vision 2050 will only succeed if young people see themselves in it and feel its impact in their daily lives. It is not just about where we are headed, but also about how we get there!👇🏾
To young Tanzanians: Educate yourselves. Participate actively. Ensure your voice is heard.
To policymakers and development actors: Engage youth not merely as beneficiaries, but as co-designers of both the present and future.
