Today, we mark exactly six years since we unveiled the National Unity Platform (NUP)—the political wing of the People Power movement. What a journey it has been! A journey of sacrifice, pain, and triumphs.
When we set out, may detractors said we wouldn't last a month. They called us hooligans and lumpens. They branded us a passing wave that would never amount to anything. They dismissed us and unleashed all manner of propaganda against us.
But we did not give up or give in. Today, we still stand as a potent, resilient anti-dictatorship force known world over for standing for the rights and dignity of every citizen.
We celebrate this milestone under heavy hearts, remembering our comrades who are still languishing in illegal detention, those who have been tortured, and those who have paid the ultimate price for a free Uganda. We shall never forget their sacrifice.
To the regime: our spirits have not been and will not be crushed by the extreme repression!
To the people of Uganda: do not lose hope. The setbacks we have encountered are mere phases in an intergenerational struggle. We will complete this mission.
Thank you to our leadership team, our diaspora chapters, and every Ugandan standing firm at the grassroots. The journey may be long, but freedom is inevitable.
Happy 6th Anniversary, NUP! ✊🏾🇺🇬
Dear Lord,
As we mark #6YearsOfNUP today, we thank you for every blessing, every victory and every insight you have given us. The journey thus far has been filled with tears, relentless setbacks, heartaches, and roadblocks, and yet you have been with us through it all. THANK YOU.
Forgive us where we have fallen short, especially those times when we have sought to rely on our own abilities and not looked up to you.
We place into your hands the souls of those we have lost and pray that you give strength to those who have been injured, those in detention, and those who are missing. Give grace to their families.
We place our future in thy hands. Victory is our desire - a New Uganda our ultimate goal. Be with us till we get there. Grant wisdom, fortitude and courage to all our leaders and members at all levels - more so, to our leader @HEBobiwine.
Bless our country Uganda and its great people.
Amen!
It should be concerning that a senior citizen, former Minister and ironically a Member of the Constituent Assembly that drafted the 1995 constitution which contained the Bill of Rights to protect the citizens can be hounded in such a manner. Whatever that has befallen this country needs the urgent condemnation of all Ugandans of good conscience. Where is Dr. Miria Matembe?
