On March 20th, I was incredibly honoured to receive the King Charles III Coronation Medal 🎖️ presented by the @RickHansenFdn, recognizing 40 champions of accessibility and inclusion across Canada 🍁
To be included among such dedicated change-makers—researchers, community leaders, volunteers, and fellow advocates—is a surreal and deeply meaningful moment. I’ve spent much of my life breaking down physical and attitudinal barriers, and to be recognized at a national level like this reminds me that the work is making a difference.
I'm especially proud to be included on this list during the 40th anniversary of the Man In Motion World Tour ♿ 🌎 —a movement that continues to inspire generations of us to push further, advocate louder, and build a Canada where everyone belongs.
Thank you to Rick Hansen and the entire RHF team for believing in this mission and for your continued leadership. Let’s keep removing barriers—together.

People often call me resilient.
The truth? Resilience isn’t a superpower—it’s survival.
As a person with a disability, pushing forward isn’t optional. It’s how I live.
I recently opened up about this on the Rebuilding Us podcast with Lindsey Mazza—real talk about leadership, disability, and what it takes to keep moving.

With the Olympic and Paralympic Games 🏅♿ in Paris, Mike Ross and I pondered the lasting impact on host cities. Reflecting on Vancouver's #accessibility improvements post-2010 Games. Thoughts on the Olympic legacy? https://t.co/hWsqPqiE8R
How do you feel access can be improved?
Absolutely fascinating to observe how stakeholders prioritize features differently between their traditional #users and users with #disabilities.
For users without disabilities, the focus is on increasing value and fostering #product loyalty.
For users with disabilities, the approach tends to be reactive—waiting for complaints or the threat of lawsuits.
This disparity underscores a critical point: until we achieve #equality in perspective, we'll always be playing catch-up when it comes to #accessibility.
