These documents center on the life and theological contributions of St. Cyprian of Carthage who navigated the early Church through intense Roman persecution. They examine the historical development of church order and the nature of ecclesiastical unity. Drop by, dig in this week.
The Uganda Martyrs:
Heroes or Traitors?
Are they are saints and heroes who died for their faith? Or are they, especially in the Buganda royal court of the time, disobedient subjects who betrayed their king?
This Saturday, 6th June, we continue to explore their story, join us!
In case you are around Makerere University, Bugema University, Kikoni & Kikumi Kikumi areas and are looking for a faithful Bible Study group to be part of...we have an Exegetes Bible Study (Campus Edition) that meets at Bethel House of Prayer in Kikumi Kikumi, every Wednesday!
Our featured book of the day: Biblical Preaching: The Development and Delivery of Expository Messages. (Haddon W. Robinson)
Are you preaching this Sunday? Have you been given that call by your pastor or reverend to preach on Sunday on a certain passage?
Where do you start from to prepare not just a motivational talk but an expository sermon? And preach biblically? Well Biblical preaching requires both skill and faith. As Robinson reminds us, ministers are the only professionals who have people assemble weekly to hear what they have to say. “We preachers use words as tools, and we ought to use them with both thoughts and skill” (147). We can and should improve. That’s our challenge and our opportunity.

It has been said that; 'It is hard to know where you are going unless you know where you are coming from.' That's the idea behind 'Fireplace Conversations'. It reimagines how the history, riddle, folktale were passed on from generation from the elder generation to the younger around a fire in the evening.
What if we had something of that sort today for 'The Story of Christianity in Uganda'?
Well...imagine it no more, come and see it happen this weekend at our premises.
'Aging has always been about simplifying and letting go. Sooner or later we realize that we can’t manage all the stuff and activity anymore. We have to let go. The practice of letting go and embracing simplicity is one way we prepare ourselves for what is to come. One day we all will have to let go of everything—even our own breath.'
--Adele Ahlberg Calhoun, Spiritual Disciplines Handbook.

“The biggest threat to the church today is fans who call themselves Christians but aren’t actually interested in following Christ. They want to be close enough to Jesus to get all the benefits, but not so close that it requires anything from them.”
― Kyle Idleman, Not a Fan: Becoming a Completely Committed Follower of Jesus.

Sometimes the way we read scripture makes it impossible for us to really hear what it is saying and go away with what we wanted it to say. We must prayerfully do the work of Biblical hermeneutics.
