You can become disabled in an instant.
People think those of us who are sick did “something” to deserve it.
We didn’t.
The just world fallacy is a lie.
It just takes one illness, accident or stroke of bad luck to forever change your life.
Disability is not a moral failing
@MerriamWebster I often hear speakers not distinguishing between these. Especially the comBAT/COMbat pair, but with others, too. TV, podcasts, NPR. I think it's shifting.
I have never claimed to be a theologian but I do have two degrees in theology and have been a priest for 17 years.
NOWHERE in the bible or in any serious theology I have ever read are Christians told that we should start wars to hasten the return of Jesus.
This is a perversion of our faith.
The Diderot Effect is when, after buying something, you feel pressured to buy more things to match it. The name comes from an 18th century essay by Denis Diderot, lamenting that a new red velvet robe led him to replace his furniture.
“If the Divine call does not make us better, it will make us very much worse. Of all bad men religious bad men are the worst. Of all created beings the wickedest is one who originally stood in the immediate presence of God.”
C.S. Lewis, Reflections on the Psalms
Alexander Hamilton. Federalist 69 ,on the difference between the president and a king:
"The President of the United States would be liable to be impeached, tried, and upon conviction of treason, bribery, or other high crime or misdemeanors, removed from office; and would afterwards be liable to prosecution and punishment in the ordinary course of law. The person of the King of Great-Britain is sacred and inviolable: There is no constitutional tribunal to which he is amenable; no punishment to which he can be subjected without involving the crisis of a national revolution."
I suspect that many who claim (falsely) that elections are rigged do so for 2 reasons: 1) to distract from the truth that the economy is indeed rigged for and by the super-rich and 2) to distract from their own plans to rig elections.
The more MAGA Christianity persists in falsehoods, the more it is primed for violence.
“Let us not forget that violence does not and cannot flourish by itself; it is inevitably intertwined with lying.” — Alexander Solzhenitsyn
@jaredstacy This quote reveals a key truth about empire/pharoah worship. I've been studying this for 25 years and am appalled at its exponential acceleration in the past 10-15 years.
@ANNELAMOTT During the episode with Jane Fonda, Jane quoted you and both Jane and Julia said how much they love you and your writing. I was tickled about this! Looking forward to hearing your interview.
