At our upcoming CLM Demonstration Farm we will be accepting interns and apprentices. Interns will be immersed in running a subsistence farm in the context of a family with a focus on balancing usufruct of landed property in the context of the Sacrament of Matrimony, living the Catholic ascetic and mystical life of prayer, and benefiting their local community through perpetuating Faith, Family, and Tradition.

As of now, apprentices will have a six to twelve month education track under a Master Tradesman in the trade areas of:

Shepherd
Farmer
Cattleman
Cider Maker
Builder

I know I don’t usually tweet with any regularity like I used to, but this trip I will try a bit more. My travels are always interesting between people, farms, monasteries, churches….Out the door before the sun this morning at 3:30 AM to catch a 6 o’clock flight. Let’s pray.

Vocational training centers that serve as small farm incubators is a goal of @catholicland

First we must associate and aggregate well ordered, productive agrarians in a locality. This is the work of “CLM Chapters” from there we train these men and women in organizing and institutional leadership. They are shepherded down a path that leads to the eventual creation of “Demonstration farms” that do exactly what good @wrathofgnon suggestions.

We will be breaking ground on the first of these in West Virginia within the year.

Imagine you and I go out to a field and in good fellowship and mutual love plant a tree. We dig and set that tree well and in doing so we stop, come to prayer and turn our wonder and love towards God…

Then, in that moment we have made it. We have arrived. In doing good work with love for each other and God we have fulfilled our purpose. None of us know tomorrow, but the life we’ll live is carrying the traditions, and relationships that make those moments possible.

May you live to know shade and taste the fruit from a tree you have planted, and God bless your work.

I’ve held on to some news for the past few weeks as things finalized but now I’m in a place to share.

Due to the extraordinary generosity of many individuals and a significant grant from our brother organization @VeraxPatria the @CatholicLand has achieved its fundraising goal for full time staff in the next year.

I will begin full time work as the Executive Director of @CatholicLand in March. I am overwhelmed with gratitude to all those who have made this possible and I am excited for what this means in terms of our developing chapter network both domestically and internationally. This next year is going to be big for the Catholic Land Movement, I hope you become part of it.
