@samdvt Did I not just say that I was open to connecting? I’m sorry you’re choosing to interpret a valid perception as offense. It may be a cynical one, but that impression isn’t coming out of the ether. If I had an org perceived that way, I’d want to hear more, not feign offense.
@samdvt If you want *measurable* progress on Building Burlington’s Future goals, your priority should be heath and human service reform. Too many service mechanisms are structured to maintain funding streams at the expense of client wellbeing, progress, and community integration.
@samdvt I’m down. No doubt there’s talent and influence behind the project. It just strikes me as someone’s vanity project, and a disservice to issues that urgently demand that talent and influence be put to better use. Also, there’s more than one way to move service agency intransigence
@samdvt What is Building Burlington’s Future built for? I see a bit of nostalgia bait with Clavelle’s involvement and the developer interests well represented in Pomerleau—again, not terrible—but the goals seem to float somewhere between ambiguous, window dressing, and low-hanging fruit.
@samdvt Not that increasing park patrols and helping wealthy real estate developers make even more money isn’t the way to go, but I think the real work that an org like yours should tackle is health and human service reform. The big designated agencies are intransigent and need a push.
@LoganPaul Feel free to DM me for some entertaining background on the individual who posted the fake recall at Bakerview @Fred_Meyer in #Bellingham#WA. IG preferred, @pnwgonzo
@swopepsych This is arguably one of the more lucid and relevant things I've seen a creativity "expert" post on social media. For that reason alone you've earned 19 min of my time, otherwise spent angrily annotating old creativity texts on the toilet, listening to your podcast. Which episode?
@Gregory_Boldt Having worked extensively with folks who have developmental disabilities and mental illness-SUD dual diagnoses, I'm happy to chat. In the meantime, consider how generalizing operationalized, unfalsifiable constructs can harm marginalized groups + give r/thanksimcured a peek! ;-)
Getting an “education” from @CreativityBuff is essentially paying to have delusional boomers lecture you about “self-efficacy” while you make Pinterest vision boards. Fuck @buffalostate@SUNY. @SUNYChancellor @BuffStatePrez need to end this eugenic, racist, discriminatory program
Dear @RunamokMaple, as a Vermont expat, now living in Washington state, I was beyond disturbed to find myself face to face with your “Sparkle Syrup” in the grocery isle. What’s next, gold flakes? Collagen peptides? You’ve gone a bridge too far, you sick, sparkly bastards! 🍁
A reminder that “#creative education” is a powerful mechanism of #fascism and #totalitarianism. The @FourSightTeam has successfully peddled their anti-science ideologies to everyone from public education systems like @SUNY to US intelligence agencies like the @CIA.
@mansa_uswa@ThePhDPlace Ah yes, my bagger at the grocery store was just telling me about their upcoming sabbatical and pension plan. Tell me you live in an ivory tower without telling me you live in an ivory tower 🙄
@jimtemu With some of the communication technology advances we’re seeing for folks who have an inability to speak or sign, I’m really hoping it will put an end to the pathological science of facilitated communication.
These types of quotes, which proliferate within #creative “education” and the “science” of creativity, are useful reminders that the construct of creativity is unfalsifiable and cannot be scientifically measured. Lots of academic disciplines it can be studied in, but not science.
@dhcropley The coherent argument: #Creativity is an unfalsifiable construct. Its definitional indicators of novel and useful are highly subjective. The majority of historical research has been disproved and/or is inconsistent with scientific norms. It’s p-hacked statistics, not science.
@dhcropley The fact that you want me to wade through the back alley grease trap that is your body of work, to possibly find something you think establishes creativity as a legitimate science, is laughable. I’ll happily read 1-3 publications if you tell me which ones, so put up or shut up.
