Advocates for equitable educational opportunities for English language learners, small schools, rural schools and economically disadvantaged communities in VT.
I am proud of our work this session to correct the per pupil weights in our education funding system to better support #Winooski students, teachers, and staff — and look forward to our continued work in improving equitable supports and outcomes for all of VTs students. #VTPoli
URGENT! Please call @GovPhilScott at 802-828-3333 and ask him to sign S.287! Without this critical legislation enacted, low income and rural districts as well as small schools and English language learners will continue to be underfunded. #vtpoli#vted#equity#FixTheFormula
Thank you to the VT Legislature for passing S.287, the equitable ed funding bill!! @GovPhilScott: VT’s low-income, rural students and English language learners are counting on you to sign this bill! 25 years of inequity is long enough. #vtpoli#vted
A little late to the party, but celebrating nonetheless. Thank you for the hard, dedicated work in the details to make #VTed a bit more equitable! #vtpoli#justice
The VT House has given final approval to the equitable ed funding bill, 132-11! 🎉 We are so grateful to Speaker Krowinski @SKrowinski and Rep. Kornheiser @ekkornheiser for working tirelessly to shepherd this bill through the house with so much support. #vtpoli#vted#Equity
The VT House just gave preliminary approval to S.287, the equitable ed funding bill. One more vote tomorrow before it’s back to the Senate. Thank you to everyone for your support! #vtpoli#vted#FixTheFormula#Equity4Life
Thank you to Rep. @ekkornheiser for getting S.287, the equitable ed funding bill, out of the House Ways and Means Committee 11-0 today! We feel it’s critical not to change up systems and to instead correct the one we have. Thank you for hearing us. #vtpoli#vted#equity
@michellebfay @SchlFinance101@LauraSibiliaVT@WinooskiLearns What you will see in the majority of our testimony is the desire to see all VT communities equipped with equitable resources to care for their schools and students, instead of just certain districts.
If you believe equity > so-called simplicity (esp when people on the ground are crying foul) please contact your House Reps TODAY and tell them to correct the pupil weights. NO fixed payments, we want equity IN the formula. #vtpoli#vted#equity#FixTheFormula@WinooskiLearns
@michellebfay @SchlFinance101@VermontStudent@WinooskiLearns Have you also had to plead with politicos every year not to cut a critical grant program (small schools)? Cost equity will put poor districts, EL districts, rural districts in that position every year. It politicizes student learning differences.
The Coalition for Vermont Student Equity called on the House Ways and Means Committee to reject sweeping changes under consideration for S.287, the Senate’s proposed education funding equity bill. #vtpoli#vted

Equity > simplicity. House plan is being heralded as simple to understand. Yet the folks on the ground (VSBA, VSA, VLCT, our coalition) are NOT okay with this new, unvetted plan. The pupil weights ARE vetted. They just need to be updated.
