I understand the ugliness of greed and entitlement. The intoxication of power. My heart breaks witnessing the abandonment of empathy and fact based reasoning. The mind boggling mental gymnastics that allows one to claim patriotism while willingly trampling our Constitution.
@Chasten I’m actually shocked by the level of angst that I have felt today. Perhaps it’s because we know too well that the threat to our democracy is not theoretical this time. We have been there, done that and going back for round two is inconceivable. At least we have each other.💙
@kdnerak33 What schools are they going to?! Someone push back on this nonsense. When was the last time any of them stepped foot in a public school? I’ve been there for over 20 years and the GOP narrative is not remotely accurate. #citeyoursources
@YNB There has never been a more clear example of those who do not study history than people who continue to promote this narrative. This image is chilling not inspiring. I continue to be bewildered and deeply saddened by the blind loyalty to this dangerous person.
@YNB It’s an ugly two sided coin of greed and ignorance. The biggest problem is how do you teach those who do not want to know and how do you foster empathy in those who lack it? Schools need to do better without question, however they can only do so much.
@CollinRugg@atensnut Children from a vast array of households are showing signs of this. Let’s do better than relying on threadbare stereotypes and let’s start finding sustainable solutions.
@CollinRugg@atensnut This is a convenient but deeply flawed theory. The system is a complete mess.
The starting point is children now, to a large degree, do not experience the consequences of their actions. Accountability is undermined in the name of expediency. Add unchecked entitlement and voilà.
@krassenstein If we embrace the idea that we all need to contribute to taking care of each other, this is a non-issue. Childless adults invest in the education and well being of children. Society as a whole cares for our elderly. Whatever you choose to create for family is your business.
@BWay124@krassenstein This conversation is exhausting. 20 years in public education and never have I seen this indoctrination that has so many in an uproar. There are definitely issues with education but that’s not one of them. Volunteer in schools. Talk with actual teachers. Use critical thinking.
