Debating Matters took the competition to the @UKHouseofLords for an incredible and hard-fought day of debates last week.
In the historic surrounds of Parliament, students demonstrated that with robust debate, the future of democracy is in good hands.
A team of Year 12 @verulamschool students had the incredible opportunity to take part in the prestigious House of Lords 'Debating Matters' competition. A special shoutout to Jared.C, who received a special commendation from judges for his incisive questioning & critical thinking.
Thanks to @libdemdaisy for being our guest speaker at our @Verulam6thForm Engaging Minds weekly lecture series. A thoughtful provoking session on politics, world affairs (dominated by @realDonaldTrump discussion!) and local issues.

Y13 Social Sciences NYC Trip Day 3. The ‘delegates’ from Verulam were at the United Nations General Assembly today. Followed by a trip to Lower East Side to the Tenement Museum, a Social History window into slum housing the generations of working class faced 1850 - 1930
Y13 Social Sciences 🇺🇸 NYC Trip Day 2. Early start off to 9/11 Memorial and Museum. Followed by research hour at Ellis Island Immigration Museum (via Statue of Liberty). Fun and spectacular backdrops for Ice Skating in Central Park
Day 1 on Y13 Social Sciences @verulamschool trip to NYC . Students out and about in NYC. Walk along the High Line to dinner in Greenwich Village. Then the first snow arrived, white out, meaning Empire State Building postponed until Tuesday.

A big thank you to Ian Blakeman, Prison Group Director, for delivering a @verulamschool Y12 'Engaging Minds Lecture'. His reflections on challenges throughout his career, along with his optimism for the future with a positive shift in policies, were both insightful and inspiring.
Following a demanding application process involving over 40 candidates, we are delighted to announce our Senior Prefect Team for 2025-26. Along with 21 new Senior Prefects, the team will take over duties from April 2025. Congratulations Tom R, Victor A, Roxy W and Danny W!
As part of Engaging Minds Lecture series, Y12s had the honour of welcoming Bernice Krantz from @Gen2GenUK to share Toby’s powerful story of survival and resilience. The 80th anniversary of liberation serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of preserving these testimonies.
