I used to play the accordion.
Now I build software.
Same reason: I love solving complex problems.
Vhirty is my one-person studio.
I only ship tools I actually use.

Thanks, this is actually super useful.
Yeah "never miss a birthday" is way clearer, should probably lead with that one.
The script font thing makes sense too, it does get hard to read smaller.
And good call on the grid, people won't get what it is if it's that tiny.
Appreciate the feedback!
Hey designers, quick feedback please.
These are the App Store screenshots for my app (keeps track of birthdays and people that matter).
How would you rate the design 1-10 and what would you change?

@jtheron82 Thanks. I’ll pick one specific type of founder (solo/small SaaS teams still sending update emails or keeping roadmaps in Notion) and start by answering publicly first.
Doing it by hand for now and seeing how it goes. Appreciate the nudge.
SaaS founders, quick question:
How did you get your first users?
What was the thing that actually moved the needle — cold outreach, Product Hunt, Twitter, referrals, something else?
Would love if you drop a short story in the comments:
• How you got your first 10–50 users
• What worked and what didn’t
• What you’d do differently today
I genuinely enjoy reading these real stories. Who’s willing to share?

Shipped Finite on Google Play.
Your whole life on one page, every week as a dot. Plus birthdays and dates for the people who matter, so you never miss one.
Built solo. Designed to look like an old journal, not another dashboard.

@DistroDigitalAi Makes sense. Most of the early users I’ve heard about came from just answering people in Reddit/X who were already describing the problem.
Curious how that usually plays out in practice though — do you see decent conversion from those DMs or is it mostly volume?
@StacySchulphks The image is painfully accurate.
Most of us would rather ship one more feature than figure out how to get the first 10 paying customers.

As a solo founder who does both, I’d still hire the genius engineer first.
I’ve shipped multiple products alone (Flutter apps + SaaS + MCP servers). Writing good code and shipping fast is the hard part early on. Sales you can learn (or force yourself to do) once you have something people actually want to use. The opposite is much harder — a great salesperson with a weak product just burns through opportunities.
What are you building right now?
