The world has no shortage of costumes.

People wearing whatever face gets them accepted. Saying what gets applause. Changing shape depending on who is in the room. In crypto, in business, in friendships…everywhere.

But authenticity, in the spiritual sense, goes much deeper than simply “being yourself.”

It’s the alignment of who you are privately, what you believe internally, what you speak publicly, and how you act when there is nothing to gain.

And there’s an important distinction worth making in the digital age:

Authenticity does not require exposure.

You can be completely genuine without putting your face, your family, your children, your home, or every detail of your life online. In fact, protecting those things may be one of the wiser choices we can make now.

Privacy isn’t a mask.

A mask hides who you are.
Privacy protects what belongs to you.

There’s a huge difference.

KSTO has always meant more to me because of that word: Truth.

Truth isn’t always comfortable. Authentic people aren’t always convenient. And real community isn’t built by everyone pretending to agree.

There are plenty of fake people around.

Really encouraging to see what @Vibrrapp and @CYPHRMarket are building around music. Respect to both teams for giving independent artists more ways to put their work out there. 🎶

Working with Jim on Vibrr Music, testing with my own releases and contributing from the artist’s side showed me what on-demand music NFT minting can open up. Seeing Cyphr give music another place to be discovered and collected adds to that momentum.

As a musician, the part I’m most excited to see develop further is the listener’s library.

Open your library. Find your artists and albums. Play a release in order. Build a playlist from the music you’ve collected. Share it with someone who might discover their next favourite artist.

That familiar ease of listening we know from apps like @Spotify, built around collecting music and supporting its creators.

Beyond that, I’d love to explore a playlist economy: listeners becoming curators, helping people discover music, and potentially sharing in the value they help create, on terms the artists choose.

First, make it a great place to listen. Then build more opportunities around that relationship between artists, listeners and curators.

There’s room here for more music-focused developers to contribute alongside Vibrr and Cyphr. This doesn’t all have to fall on the same teams, and it doesn’t have to mean starting again.

I want the music I release to become part of someone’s day, not just something they collect.
