🚨🔵Those Saying that Enzo should stay, you guys don't get it. Maresca doesn’t really see Enzo as a defensive midfielder or a natural double pivot. He sees him much more as an attacking midfielder, which is why Manchester City went for players like Ayyoub Bouaddi and Elliot Anderson rather than viewing Enzo as a direct replacement for Rodri.

At Chelsea, however, Alonso’s system is different. If Enzo stays, he is far more likely to be used in a double pivot. The problem is that his defensive weaknesses are well known. Even Maresca understood this, which is why we often saw James invert into midfield to provide extra protection and cover for Enzo.

Chelsea already have enough attacking quality with Palmer and Rogers, while Estevão and Gittens are waiting for their opportunities. We don’t need another attacking midfielder. Forcing Enzo into a double pivot exposes the exact weaknesses that make him less effective in that role.

So honestly, if Enzo wants City and City want him, I think it makes sense for everyone. Let him go somewhere he can play the football that suits him, while Chelsea use the money to bring in a midfielder who actually fits Alonso’s system. 🔵
