The Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Home Affairs, Mr Mosa Chabane, has assured recruits employed under the @HomeAffairsSA digitisation programme that the committee will return tomorrow to engage directly on the challenges raised, including those highlighted in the media.

The committee is currently on an oversight visit to the digitisation hub to assess progress in converting DHA paper records into digital format.

Concerns were also raised about the lack of sufficient kitchen space and restrictions on external food deliveries. Additionally, despite contractual provisions for overtime pay, recruits reported ongoing challenges in successfully claiming overtime.

Short sightedness consumed them today we have young people being forced out of government contracts with the potential of permanent employment and benefits unto private contracts with an ultimatum.
