I visited several villages in kalalkash B panchayat in Rajouri Jammu where the residents, especially women, face unimaginable challenges due to the terrible road conditions. Many of them have to cross this broken, uneven path just to reach their homes. I couldn’t even begin to imagine the difficulties they face daily. As the road became impassable for vehicles, I decided to walk the rest of the way to meet the villagers and understand their struggles firsthand. On my way, I encountered a man struggling on his bike—if it’s this hard for a bike, how can cars even make it through? Eventually, I reached the village and sat down with the women to hear their stories, each one filled with resilience despite the obstacles they face.
