An alligator, an albino turtle, and 17 dogs were all locked in the same garage through triple digit heat.

Cypress, Texas. Harris County Precinct 1 deputies and the Houston SPCA pulled 19 animals out Wednesday. Seventeen dogs, several of them French bulldogs, a breed that struggles hardest in heat because of how they're built to breathe, were crammed into rusted cages caked in feces and urine. A mother dog was in there nursing a litter of puppies. Two reptiles shared the space: an American alligator and an albino red-eared slider, both kept in conditions investigators called unhealthy.

No AC. No relief. Just a garage turned into a holding pen for whatever the owner didn't want to deal with.

The investigation is open and evidence is still being documented. Nineteen animals is not a collection, it's a crime scene that happened to have a pulse.
