Living Floodplains Officer working on restoring our floodplains for the @thetrentvalley partnership project in Staffordshire and Derbyshire. Views my own.
After the Trent Valley Way walk from Kings Bromley, it was an honour to meet some of the hardworking @TheTrentValley#volunteers at the #ThanksToYou cream tea @Nat_Mem_Arb. Delighted to present Certificates in recognition of their invaluable contribution @StaffsWildlife
It was a privilege to be able to introduce the High Sheriff @HSStaffs to our proposals to enhance the floodplain habitats at Riverside Park, Rugeley Power Station, and create a better environment for people and wildlife @ENGIE_UK@TheTrentValley@StaffsWildlife
Silt lagoons were identified as Biodiversity Hotspots in the #CentralRivers & @TheTrentValley natural heritage audits. @StaffsWildlife worked on the @Nat_Mem_Arb Master Plan to ensure that Juntion Pit Lagoon would be a nature reserve & a quiet place of reflection for visitors.
Extraordinary moment as Rugeley Power Station's cooling towers demolished. New era, new low carbon 2,300 house development & 27 hect. nature reserve with river, woodland & grassland restoration with @StaffsWildlife. More than 20% net gain for wildlife @ENGIE_UK 😃
Two highly contrasting reaches of the same river, the engineered and managed one on the left adds to downstream flood risk, the naturalising channel reduces it.
