I'm now the source for confirming Yoshi's Island is NOT a mainline Mario game (what I saw at the Nintendo Museum) as well as the source for confirming it IS a mainline Mario game (Miyamoto's answer to my question in 2012).

@Andy_VGC Have you ever been to the Strong Museum of Play? All the pictures and videos I’ve seen of the Nintendo Museum (especially the interactive areas) are very reminiscent of The Strong.
