As AI is causing a radical reorganisation of the prevalent knowledge & research ecosystems, are the “methods/methodologies” as they have been understood and employed in social & human sciences going for a toss?

Generation after generation, young Indians were given to believe that Sanskrit was a dead language. To be kept strictly within the confines of Sanskrit departments!
A belief gone wrong is a dangerous thing!
The proposal for the Dartmouth Research Project submitted by the young mathematician, John McCarthy, who taught at a liberal arts college, the Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, USA, had this to propose:

"to proceed on the basis of the conjecture that every aspect of learning or any other feature of intelligence can in principle be so precisely described that a machine can be made to simulate it."
Of course this hypothesis that a machine can think was only the beginning of the AI revolution that we are seeing today.
But the moot point is, we had a language given to us by our ancestors that basically worked like precise and accurate coding. Sanskrit is not a language in the usual sense, therefore. It is a model of intelligence. It reveals linguistic abstraction of how the human brain works. It is highly algorithmic. These facts have been established for quite sometime now.
But in the year 1956 when AI was coined in this workshop, we had already abandoned Sanskrit from the mainstream education and learning ecosystem, and sadly for political reasons.
While the language in itself would not produce cutting-edge science, but the logical and symbolic systems of Sanskrit engrained in our education system would have us as the frontier culture of innovation!

Once upon a time a Persian King sent his most learned scholar to Bharat to learn the Fable. He not only learnt the Indian fable, but also translated it into Pahlavi (Middle Persian), which then got translated into Arabic, and thereafter into French and then reached all over Europe teaching principles of strategic thinking and governance intelligence.

Bharat shall make its own Fable!

It’s abominable to see a concerted smearing campaign against the Union Minister of Education.

In this case, as is evident, namesakes, two different individuals with same name- one unknown to Shri Dharmendra Pradhan and another known to him- have been misappropriated with a nefarious design to fabricate a fraudulent narrative.

It’s an absolute fraud to claim that Rajendra Mohapatra, whose spouse is Komal Mohapatra, owner of a house in Melrose, USA, is linked to Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, the Union Minister.

The Rajendra Mohapatra, known to the Dharmendra Pradhan and his family, is Rajendra Kumar Mohapatra, husband of Aarti Mohapatra, a native of Manikamara, Dharmpur, Talcher, Angul, Odisha.

Rajendra Kumar Mohapatra of Manikamara, Odisha, is being deliberately mixed up with Rajendra Mohapatra of Melrose with an attempt to create a baseless conjecture with malicious intent!

The nation deserves constructive dialogues on making education system resilient and hurdle-free rather than toxic personal attacks aimed at undermining the public trust in a leader!

It is preferable to trust a system that is equitable and responds with transparency, is committed to reforms and stands in solidarity with parents and students than to harbour a nostalgia for the pre-NEET era, when a free-for-all scenario existed for medical seats to be secured under college and management quotas by those with access and resources.

Launched by the Hon’ble Union Minister of Education, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan Ji, on the 58th Foundation Day of ICSSR, the “ ICSSR Yuva Shodha Pratibha Scheme” shall provide the fourth year students of the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme under the NEP 2020 support for doing guided research projects in Social & Human Sciences.
ICSSR has selected “Youth & Decolonisation” as the broad theme for the inaugural call for projects under this scheme.

It was simply terrific visiting Manipur to organise and participate in the CAG-ICSSR colloquium (Manipur Chapter), at Manipur University campus at Imphal.
North East is so special for me, perhaps, because I grew up in the region, and had so much learn from the places and people all through my schooling and college years. But equally because the college-going youth surprises us every time with a new resilience, positive outlook, beautiful curiosity, cultural rootedness, creative eagerness & a natural inclination towards new learning.
So I was not at all surprised seeing a great assembly of students, who had come to listen to the presentations on the subject of public finance and healthcare systems in the state, as reflected in the performance audit of the district hospitals.
That they came with great interest and curiosity about fiscal health, fiscal governance, the work and functioning of @IndiaCAG, and why was @icssr involved in the colloquium on CAG reports and audit data was greatly satisfying, and so inspiring!
More than one 1000 students, mostly undergraduate students, sitting through four hours of presentations, discussions and Q&A with the same level of interest and curiosity was certainly an experience to cherish and remember.
The questions asked and comments expressed by the college students and those from @IIITManipur demonstrated their keen interest in learning about the seminal importance of CAG data related to all social sectors as well as macro-level data and their critical value for developing research questions based on the important gaps revealed by the data that needed to be addressed by the government and all stakeholders.

The objective of the CAG-ICSSR colloquium series that aims to reach every state and 2 UTS is to enhance knowledge & research capacities of the students so that they excel as #ViksitBharatAmbassador

Note: we encourage UG, PG & PhD students & scholars to participate in the CAG Research Article Writing Competition (both state & national level) with attractive prizes and commendations, which is being announced.

Reading my poem बस्ते का बोझ  (Weight of the School Bag) at the 3rd International Literature Festival organised by Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, at Patna from 25th to 28th September 2025 was a sheer privilege!

As young boys and girls in the late 80s and 90s, if you came from a rural world as mine; if your parents were small and poor farmers, but so much wished you didn't turn up like them, like my parents did; if they sent you to the village school every morning, often applying mild force, because nothing could stop them from thinking day and night that you walked a different path, found a different purpose for life, without having any means to support you, but inspired by a great faith and imagination that EDUCATION could do the magic for you and them, and could turn things around, eventually; and even though they knew so well, and felt an unexpressed pain that Education would take you away from them emotionally, mentally, and then physically, as you grew into an adolescent, it was all fine for them to be left behind alone with the fields, the plough, the oxen and the barn, because they saw a different dream for you; if this is all yours too, this poem is as much yours as mine!
