@JoannaKidman My sister had one, but I had left home and been flatting for some years before eventually setting up home with my boyfriend in '73, so had gradually amassed all necessary necessities by then. It was becoming less common to marry straight from home by then.
@WendyWings Owl or peacock moth. I've had one or two flying about in my house lately too. I try to encourage them to go out otherwise they block out the light from my reading lamp.๐
@SoVeryBritish My father always put a pinch of salt in his coffee at a time mid 20th century when coffee was bitter. If you have quality tea it wouldn't be necessary, but most tea bags are rubbish so a bit of salt would smooth it. Microwave comment was a joke.
@TheSpinoffTV@rachaelking70 2/2 Ruth Park's Hole in the Hill was read aloud to me by my Dad and was particularly memorable as it described a place we had lived as children.
@TheSpinoffTV@rachaelking70 1/2Have just finished reading William Mayne's A game of dark. Originally read and enjoyed as a young 20 something. I was mesmerized by Mayne's language at the time, and loved those books you described. I developed a fascination for the power of the British landscape through them.
@RawiriTaonui From Stats NZ the total number of people who died in NZ last year was 38000 (FROM ALL CAUSES), and this a fairly average annual figure that happens every year. So not sure how all could be attributable to COVID

@kirsty_johnston 2/2They cannot interfere with the voting or talk to voters, but they can and alert election officials if they suspect someone of voting twice. They can also photograph the page and line numbers of the electoral roll of people who have voted and report that to their party
@kirsty_johnston Not random at all. The scrutineers have allocated seating behind the polling place staff marking the rolls so they can see and hear the transaction between staff and voters. They can't sit anywhere else. Instead of commenting on here why dont people ask the voting place manager.
