Today, we celebrated Nowruz, a “New Day” in Persian. Nowruz is a new year holiday that begins during the Spring Equinox. The assembly included a fun history lesson and a mesmerizing performance of Vandad Arezoo Music Academy.

Prelude and Junior Singers performed songs and made greeting cards for residents at Atria Senior Living as part of a service learning project. Residents and Village Singers loved interacting with each other.

The 6th Grade hosted our assembly this morning, featuring the Los Angeles based JazzAntiqua. We want to thank founding artistic director, Pat Taylor, and the amazing dancers who inspired us this morning with their beautiful artistry.

❤️Kindergarten students teamed up with their 6th Grade Buddies to create valentines for our Village School neighbors. They walked up and down Swarthmore delivering their creations. Our little love bugs had a blast spreading the love.❤️

TK & K students, along with their parents and special friends, enjoyed 6-pin bowling inside a transformed ten-lane bowling alley-La Cruz Gym. So many strikes and spares…and when the balls stopped rolling our youngest Vikings were all standing tall and proud!

6th Grade attended the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. They learned about the process of filmmaking and attended an exhibit entitled “Regeneration: Black Cinema 1898-1971 ” which explored the African American experience through the art of filmmaking.

First graders went on a fabulous field trip today to three different parks in the Malibu area; investigates playgrounds to assess inclusive and accessible features like ramps, interactive games, various types of slides, Braille, and more!

Today TK visited Fire Station 69 on Sunset Blvd. The TKers had so many questions to ask the firefighters! TKers gave the firefighters cute thank you drawings that they made, and learned all about what firefighters do to keep us safe.

3rd grade classes got to zoom in with Joan Singleton, the writer and producer of “Because of Winn Dixie.” Students were curious to understand how a book is adapted to a screenplay. They did a thoughtful Q&A, and were answered by Ms. Singleton herself!

Today, 5th grade students presented The False Prince Carnival as a culminating project for their first novel study in Upper Division. We welcomed the author Jennifer Nielsen, who kicked off the carnival festivities with a short talk about the book.
