It was a true pleasure and honor to organize and moderate this morning’s plenary session: Voices From the Front Lines at @EdTrust’s national bootcamp. It was humanizing and powerful, and I am grateful to engage in authentic conversations. ♥️

At @EdTrust Bootcamp where @EdTrustTN is well represented by @Vilmaris_G who is leading a phenomenal panel discussion with student leader @treycunningham6 and other educators, parents, and advocates across the country about their experiences on the frontline!

Apply so you can expand your worldview & make connections outside of your comfort zone. College is a time of growth & you gain a sense of independence. So much in life is not guaranteed but your education, your knowledge is yours to keep. No one can take it away. #whyapply

All of these anti-CRT bills passing in states is EXHAUSTING. Every week we learn of a new state that has passed a piece of legislation banning discussions of race & factual history relating to the founding of this country and the power dynamics that continue to exist.

If you truly believe there are good cops, then advocate for them to seek new positions in the post-police public health & safety system. “Let’s uphold this harmful institution b/c not everyone is bad” makes no sense.

Weird that March is next month when March was also last month

[Vilmaris_González @Vilmaris_G]

@stephanymedina @nytimes I totally agree!

[Vilmaris_González @Vilmaris_G]

Watched @nytimes Presents: “Framing Britney Spears” and wow. She was brutalized by the paparazzi & media. It’s wild to see the cultural shift that has happened over time & the push to prioritize & engage mental health... it makes me think about cultural shifts in multiples spaces

Also— a man WOULD NEVER be treated the way she was treated and a conservatorship would have never even been a thing.

[Vilmaris_González @Vilmaris_G]

It’s possible. People just choose to maintain the status quo... but culture can change and evolve. #RandomThoughts

I received back to back positive news today. 2 of my students- 1 a senior at @TSUedu & 1 a senior at @MetroNashville— got into @VanderbiltU!! I screamed, I shouted!! I’m so proud of both of them. My heart also feels full that they decided to share the news with me right away. ♥️

Grateful to have the opportunity to reflect on my life journey as a cultural being and what it means to me now and in the work that I do. I so appreciate @MilnerHRich & @Educator_X for doing it again!— creating an online community of learning and love. #VandyCRP2021

While we're making plans for kids to safely return to school due to the pandemic, can we also make plans for schools to be safe from school shootings, race- based microagressions, and the school-to- prison pipeline?
