FYI re polling in Maine Senate race —@SenatorCollins v. Graham Platner: In 2020 polling not one in 10 polls had Senator Collins ahead. One had her down 12 points. The last poll had Collins down by 6 points to Sarah Gideon.

Senator Collins won by 9 points.

Gideon outspent Collins $43 million to $20 million.

Graham Platner is by far the most repellent Democratic Senate candidate in what is considered a competitive race that I can recall. Collins’ is indefatigable on the campaign trail. We will be treated to deeply flawed polls again and told that it’s a “blue wave” year (which it may yet be.) But just don’t take Maine polls seriously. Pollsters haven’t figured out how to do it successfully.
