With the most capable LLM models ever, tool calling is still at kindergarten level. From @claudeai saying it will wake but doesn't to @GeminiApp trying 2,000 different ways to fetch a page in 3 seconds. Whoever figures this out will be the preferred solution for builders.
@claudeai seems to try and solve their capacity challenges by taking away capacity, like removing Claude Code from the $20 plan and "smarter" session resets. This is not the time to focus on value extraction. There are many alternatives, don't give people a reason to try them...
Why don’t I see many people talking about tools in LLMs? Seems to me that that’s where most of the progress is going to come from to integrate this into people’s day-to-day. Lots of building blocks still missing to reach full potential there.
@pmarca Agree and also, most of the work for 80% of the population can be done by the current Mini / Flash / Haiku models if you give them the right tooling. Can get that for lower hundreds a month already today.
