#LetsLineThingsUp Done by me. When I was 47 years old. And nobody interrupted me. Because why would they. I play how I enjoy playing.
Thank goodness I’m not a child any more, not at risk of being told what to do by folk who have rigid and inflexible ideas of how I should play.
@AutisticCoach_ Shortly after we were married I threw my dinner across the room at my spouse because he didn’t cook it the way my father cooked it! I didn’t discover I was autistic until 15 years later, but then it made sense!
@elliemidds I went through a massive phase of “oh heck, this is permanent” but am now learning to manage my life and accept that and the difference it’s making is huge. I’m still sad often about the stuff I miss out on, but life IS generally more stable.
@Autistic_at_40 I just assumed what I was feeling was normal. I told folk I was tired and struggling etc (only vocab I had) and they just told me that everybody got tired and that was adult life. I didn’t have a clue how badly burnt out I was. I didn’t take time off until I physically collapsed.
Wow! Three finishers at Barkley Marathons. Big kudos to
Aurelian Sanchez 🇫🇷 58:23
John Kelly 🇺🇸 58:42
Karel Sabbe 🇧🇪 59:53
They all made it round 5 loops in under 60 hours. For John, it’s a second finish.
17 runners have now finished since the race began in 1986.

@dustychipura Partly ingrained routines. Partly because I have sensory issues that mean being sticky or dusty or having furry teeth is absolutely unbearable to me, verging on painful. So if my teeth aren’t clean or I don’t bath every single day then I fall apart very fast. Bath also big stim.
@autismtalknd My third thought was that I should probably eat something before driving home as the assessment had been 5 hours long so I was probably in need to sustenance.
@autismtalknd The date of my diagnosis is symmetrical even numbers! How exciting. I jumped up and down and flapped my hands a bit and pointed the numbers out to my assessors and they laughed. Then I hugged my assessors and my second thought was “is that allowed? Oh well too late now”.
@TheAnimatedAdvo Yes. I’ve had to completely change my life. Total rethink on what I can do and how much of it I can do and how much rest and solitude I need between doing stuff.
@AutisticCoach_ I neither like nor dislike. Though it takes a week or so to get used to it being different. The actual process is easy. Take all clothes off (so they don’t get ruined), tell spouse how many cm to cut, spouse cuts, then into bath to wash all hairs off me. Vacuum carpet. Done.
I’m here so infrequently these days that I actually couldn’t remember how to make a fresh tweet!
But Twitter is still the place I can find out that yes, Garmin connect is misbehaving!
@VirtualRunnerUK Cooler will make a massive difference! Hoping to get much more distance this week! I even had to resort to running early in the morning last week because the weather was so warm!!!
@sorrywrngplanet 1 year is still very soon after. I read sthg after I was dx that said at least 2 years needed for processing. I’m now 5.5 years since dx and things are beginning to settle & am learning how to live. But the first year was basically my brain just screaming at me the whole time.
It's really important to stay hydrated in the heat. But please remember "hydration" is not just "drinking lots of water." It's about replacing the fluids your body loses, & that includes salt.
Drinking lots of water without replacing salt can be really dangerous
