On this day 10 years ago, I made and hung this little placard of Chelsea's chant and players' names in my room out of love for the club I grew up rooting for until October 2023. Now, I despise it with every fibre of my being for the true face it has shown during the genocide of my people and my homeland.
It all began with Chelsea's 3-3 thriller against Man Utd in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge on February 5th, 2012. I didn't know much about football, but watched this game until the final whistle: an unforgettable, high-tempo, and electric game with goals galore that properly introduced me to the Premier League and Chelsea's world.
I was a 13-year-old child in a tiny refugee camp, barely speaking and understanding English and struggling to watch my favourite club's matches and interviews under incessant Israeli bombardment and frequent electricity and telecommunications blackouts. This highly motivated me to learn English, so I can understand the club's players' and manager's post- and pre-match interviews.
Every season brought me closer to the club, every game deepened my love of everything it represents, and every minute of cheering on the players relieved my pain and alleviated my suffocation under an over 20-year-long stifling Israeli siege.
I had grown up telling my family about one of my dreams: to watch a game at Stamford Bridge. That stadium of which I know every corner, from whose stands I always derived joy and ecstasy, and whose ends would normally remind me of Hazard's curlers, Willian's screamers, or Courtois and Cech's sublime flying saves.
No matter what'd happen in Gaza, from intense Israeli airstrikes to constant internet blackouts, I almost never missed out on a game. Chelsea was part of my life. We made lifetime memories through thick and thin. I even missed school and got late for my final exams to support it. At school, work, university, mosque, stadium, and almost every place, Chelsea was at the heart of my conversations. It's also the reason my favourite colour is blue.
I vividly recall the thumping 5-0 PL win against Everton when I had to sneak to a nearby dilapidated room with a corrugated iron ceiling to watch the game. I got myself burned drinking tea as goals were smashing the Toffees' net. And by the end of the season, as Chelsea wrapped up the @premierleague title, I distributed sweets to the neighbours to celebrate the trophy.
Even the nights I stayed up screaming at the top of my lungs and annoying my family and my neighbours were remarkably memorable. And the two nights Chelsea won the Champions League, especially the 2021 @ChampionsLeague final victory against City, I couldn't sleep basking in this splendid victory.
Chelsea, all through and through, as I made friends with the club's supporters within and outside Gaza. We were a small group in Gaza. I am sure Chelsea never knew or gave a toss about us. But we always talked Chelsea, no matter the surrounding circumstances.
The most beloved of them was Dr Khalid Abu-Oweimer, an emergency doctor who worked tirelessly during the first five months of the genocide at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital until he was killed in an Israeli airstrike on northern Deir al-Balah in February 2024. He and I, as lifelong friends and neighbours, were avid Chelsea fans watching every single game, reading pre-game analyses, and predicting future transfers and results of upcoming runs of fixtures.
Until October 2023, as Israel waged a full-blown genocide in Gaza, Chelsea released a disgraceful, biased, and degrading statement favouring Israelis over Palestinians, whom the club almost never bothered about in the slightest. It was posted as I was watching my neighbours and people soaking in their blood and ululating before their loved ones' graves. Israel was carpet-bombing Gaza City and millions of people were getting displaced at the time. This statement prompted a no-brainer to no longer support the club. It replaced all the love with absolute hatred. It was emblematic of a betrayal I never imagined seeing.
It got even worse knowing a Chelsea director put up tweets defending Israel's deliberate targeting of children in Gaza, let alone reading about the club's long history of complicity in the plight of Palestinians. And now, its complicity is astounding as their sponsors feed on my people's blood and the theft of our homeland. Notwithstanding that, the club has never expressed shame or remorse, but has even continued with a more brazen cowardice and hypocrisy.
Four months after I left Gaza on the opening day of the Premier League for Chelsea, I made it to the Bridge, not as the same person I used to be, not as I wished I could've been, and not at the time I ever preferred. Not as a Chelsea fan. It was all arbitrary and nothing was planned. I refused to go, but the only reason that persuaded me was to honour the memory of my friend Dr Khalid Abu-Owiemer. I knew he, as a big fan of Chelsea, also wished to attend a game at the Bridge. Nevertheless, Israel's strike was closer to him than his wish.
Before the game, I printed his picture and hurried to the stadium. I held his picture while I was roaming around the club facilities. It was a bittersweet moment, and I desperately wished he was there. But I can't say no to reality. Then, I ensured the pics wouldn't be seen by the club's stewards because it was going to unfairly stir up a quarrel for nothing. I entered the stadium for the first time ever and saw the huge stands and banners — a dream I felt came true but never enjoyed and rather used to carry a loss memory and dignify a life at a place that dehumanises it.
Moreover, I was pleased to raise my other friend's photo, a doctor and a football player who dreams of playing in Europe, but Israel is the only impediment in his way.
It all ended now. The club can never be forgotten or forgiven. Chelsea has manifested enough racism, hypocrisy, and cowardice for me and the world to realise what it embodies. Maybe I wasn't aware when I was a kid. But I am now. I hope everyone in this club liable for the misery of Palestine will face intolerable consequences and be held to account.
And all I wish for it now is the same as it has caused Palestinians to suffer since its foundation. I would never wish this insufferable club success. I hope it collapses into total oblivion.
Fame is not an immunity shield. Being a well-known actor actually makes his predatory behavior even more dangerous because it gives him a platform to manipulate. Stop using his career as an excuse to excuse gr00ming.

Heartbreaking to watch the wildfires in Algeria, and the disasters unfolding in so many parts of the world. May Allah protect the innocent, their properties, and their loved ones all over. Ameen

Happy National Day!
A reminder that our wildlife are Malaysians too. Their freedom to roam in our forests depends on us. After all, the greatness of a nation & its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.
‘When Lee Jung-eun's casting was confirmed, Kim Jiwon had already fallen in love with her’ ~ Dir. Lee Jungrim
Yeah we don't doubt Jiwon's fondness for women.
harga makanan dengan barang dekat JB memang relatively mahal berbanding bandar utama lain dekat Malaysia dari dulu sebab Singaporeans datang shopping dekat JB. tahun lepas 20 juta Singaporeans cross border belanja S$1.7 bilion (RM5.5 bilion) dekat JB. peniaga-peniaga pun untung lebih jual kepada Singaporeans dengan exhange rate & higher purchasing power.

It’s crazy to that not only was this greenlit but it actually went into production and now release; this man is pure evil in every way and the industry continues to allow it. I hope this tanks so bad and doesn’t even make it to any screens
Amboi … mcm dia sorang ada tanggung jawab.
