@peachsandgrades No problem! I believe teaching can improve your depression.
1. Spending the day with students is much more fun than with adults.
2. You'll have WINS daily so you know you're helping students - focus on the wins
3. Smile! It will make you and your class happy and welcoming.

@numericalguy My advice to anyone considering flipped pedagogy, or indeed, any pedagogy. Use face-to-face time for things that are best done face-to-face. One more example of why I think opportunity cost is the single most concept in educational improvement...
A review of research on "flipped" classrooms finds that there is little evidence either way about impact on student achievement, and most studies are so poorly theorized that studies are difficult, if not impossible, to compare: https://t.co/LUzCtEINlJ

Wow. This finding is so interesting and maybe a bit surprising. Reading aloud to my middle schoolers seemed like an indulgence but maybe it was more beneficial then I knew.

Now this is very interesting, and I don't think at all obvious. Reading challenging texts aloud, and at a fast pace, improved the reading comprehension of all students, but for the lowest achievers, the gains were almost twice as great: https://t.co/TxJ1MZPI4X.
@donalynbooks I've been that woman who people stare at, as I sit alone, content reading my book and slowly eating my dinner. Waitresses try to chat because they assume I'm lonely but they're interrupting my time.
Yours was a brave post and reminded me of the pleasures of traveling alone.
