This is why people don't want to have kids any more. This used to be entirely normal to leave your 14 y/o in charge of a household.
Now parents are arrested AND publicly shamed. Who would want to endure that?
“Once you run out of space in your Gmail, you’ll stop getting emails.”
OKAY, THEN MAKE IT EASIER TO DELETE A MASSIVE AMOUNT OF EMAILS, AND WHEN I CLICK “UNSUBSCRIBE” OR “REPORT SPAM/JUNK,” THEN MEAN IT
There are millions of Americans who now believe that if a Republican candidate loses that means the election was rigged. I've talked to these people. Trump has done more damage to the trust in elections and democracy than anybody else in our 250 years and it's not close.
I have no idea why renaming AI is so bizarrely important to Trump. Nobody cares about the name he chose. Nobody is using it or will use it. And it’s not even technically accurate because “super intelligence” already had an agreed upon, widely adopted definition. This is the weirdest political hill to die on. It gains you nothing. Not a single ordinary American in the country, anywhere, cares deeply about making sure people say “SI” instead of “AI.” We are days away from a major election and this bullshit is the focus? Just baffling.
Talarico: "Elon Musk is trying to buy this Senate seat in Texas. We just found out that the richest man in the world is almost single-handedly bankrolling this effort to install Ken Paxton in the Senate and defeat the movement that we are building. In all likelihood, if you've seen an attack ad on your TV, that was Elon. If you've gotten lies in your mailbox, that was Elon. If you've received a text message saying scary things about me with scary black and white photos. That was Elon too."
Deservedly scathing op-ed by the NYT:
“If Democrats retake both houses of Congress, and more state governments than they now control, it will tell the world that Mr. Trump does not represent most Americans. It will demonstrate that a country that starts to slide toward autocracy can move back to normalcy, as happened in Hungary this spring. Most important, it will create a desperately needed check on Mr. Trump during his final two years in office.
…
In a 21-month span, he has done more harm to democracy and the rule of law than any other president in the modern era and perhaps longer than that. He has broken his oath to defend the Constitution by trying to rewrite it on his own. He has refused to honor Congress’s power of the purse and misused national security laws for political ends. He has defied federal court orders on Medicaid funding, deportation orders and more. He has dismantled the Justice Department’s legacy as an impartial enforcer of federal law, turning it into an instrument of retribution against his adversaries while canceling investigations into his allies. He has appointed inept sycophants to oversee crucial government functions, including law enforcement, national defense and public health. He has sought to disenfranchise large numbers of voters, claiming fraud that cannot be found, and championed an extreme new approach to partisan gerrymandering. He has physically besmirched the White House by demolishing the East Wing and financing a garish renovation with donations from wealthy allies.”

Two things are fundamentally in tension here: The people who care for the elderly need to be paid fairly for difficult and important work (I also don't think you want to underpay the person keeping your mom alive and healthy). But paying someone else's full-time salary is beyond the means of most Americans. Which is why, obviously, this is a place government needs to step in to help with the burden. Ditto childcare. None of this can, or should be, managed alone.
While Trump is blocking delivery of air defenses that European nations purchased for Europe his piece of shit son is on a several day hunting trip with one of Putin's cronies, the same obe that paid for the Trump family's 2-day island party.
It's all incredible and MAGA will cheer for more.
I have to say, now is a great time to attend a Trump rally because you’ll have multiple opportunities of near silence amidst the small, lifeless crowds to tell this failed dipshit that he just fuckin sucks and have him actually hear you
Largely missed Cheesecake Factory-gate but find it genuinely funny that people seem more offended by a swipe at a restaurant than the comparison to Saddam Hussein 😂😭😭
"Watching him stagger toward a humiliating midterm rebuke with his movement seemingly on the brink of collapse, I have to admit it’s hard to feel much pleasure about it all. Instead, I still mostly feel disgust and shame."

Companies replacing junior roles with AI and then wondering why they can't find senior talent in five years is going to be the most predictable crisis in hiring history
