Jimmy completely shattered those parameters. By succeeding on his own terms, Jimmy proved that Chuck's deeply held, arrogant criteria for success were fundamentally flawed. Chuck couldn't accept that Jimmy, who often took shortcuts, could ever stand as his peer in a courtroom.

Chuck’s loathing for Jimmy’s legal career stems from his own rigid elitism. Chuck viewed the law as a sacred, exclusive institution. In his worldview, a "real" lawyer required a prestigious pedigree, elite mentorship, and a polished, traditional background, as with Howard Hamlin.

Chuck, on the other hand, fought to annihilate Jimmy’s identity, famously telling him, "You're not a real lawyer," and ultimately dealing the fatal emotional blow: "I never really cared for you all that much."

He fights his way up and carves out his own path. For years, Jimmy revered Chuck and chose to take the high road. Even when Jimmy finally resorted to fighting dirty to survive, his actions were often driven by a desperate, misguided need for his brother's approval.

Yet, instead of feeling pride for his brother's redemption, Chuck was horrified. He humiliated Jimmy, cowardly using Howard Hamlin as a shield to deny him an associate position at the firm. But despite the systemic gatekeeping, Jimmy wins.

The root of Chuck’s resentment began the moment Jimmy passed the New Mexico bar exam. Jimmy didn't rely on nepotism, nor did he ask for Chuck’s blessing. While working a gruelling, entry-level job in the HHM mailroom, Jimmy secretly studied through distance learning.

#Toxic is a casualty of its own mass-pleasing ambitions. Keeping its release between Animal and Dhurandhar might’ve spared it from the trolls, but for a tentpole film of this scale, dragging the climax into heavy psychological territory is a kind of misfire. Great Story tho!
