Hi ppl. VZC founder Graham Larkin here.

Popping in to say how much I ❤️following NotJustBikes (another 🇨🇦 expat & extwit) on YouTube.

2016 Tesla video promoting #selfdriving was staged, engineer testifies.
Musk's tweet (“Tesla drives itself ... thru urban streets to highway to streets, then finds a parking spot") & video tagline ("The car is driving itself.") are maninfestly false.

"... a difficult lesson learned by a number of 🇺🇲 [& now 🇨🇦] cities that have simply run out of money to pay for crucial infrastructure repairs."

Happy to see that our @cityofguelph has started implementing leading Pedestrian Interval intersection signals.
However we need to ramp up implementation of this low cost but highly effective pedestrian safety measure @VisionZeroCA

I’ve seen a lot of victim-blaming by police and media when drivers kill pedestrians. A LOT. But I don’t think I’ve ever read ANYTHING quite this stupid, infuriating and irresponsible. From Calgary police and media.
I'm very pleased to see @Saanich taking these rapid-build measures to improve #RoadSafety in the District.
We need to respond quickly when dangers are identified!

"Rather than telling [motorists] to be extra careful when driving their (increasingly large) vehicle, the Service de police de la ville de Montréal has [targeted] the most vulnerable."
Not that finger-wagging matters.
We need to DESIGN OUT THE CONFLICT!

Almost every major thoroughfare I came across in Montreal had a separated two-way bike track, most with a curb separator, some with flex posts. I saw no painted-line only bike lanes. Also, I saw no sidewalks closed for construction that didn’t include a bypass.
This pedestrian and cyclist tunnel was built underneath a roundabout in Amersfoort.
For social safety, the tunnel offers optimal lighting and daylight. Its walls recede slightly, creating a more spacious and pleasant experience.

The core of our argument is that 'active travel' is generally framed & treated too narrowly - as just walking and cycling.
There are a whole range of other modes that could be brought into the scope of active travel and we suggest there are significant benefits to doing so

#HamOnt Main St "lane reduction is part of the beginning stages to convert the road from a one-way into a two-way street, which was approved by city council in May."
Latter would be real progress, for safety & liveability. No time to waste!
