@slovakloser@Scuderia_Lec@salingergregor@StefanFrancisci So case in point: the use of the word "genocide" is deceptive in this regard, especially in the case of Sopron, unless you want to apply the same terminology to cities that were once predominantly Hungarian, and now, due to assimilation efforts and urbanisation, are no longer.
@slovakloser@Scuderia_Lec@salingergregor@StefanFrancisci ... ethnicites whose societal makeup was more rural/agrarian. Either way, many in Sopron embraced a dual German-Hungarian identity rather than based on one ethnic background alone, which was possible due to German and Hungarian being the two dominant ethnicities in the Empire.
As openly gay Romani singer Ibolya Oláh began performing her anthem “Magyarország,” the cordons on Kossuth Square opened. The crowd surged forward, many walking across the reflecting pool.
Beautiful symbolism of a new era of hope.

@mikitaposts I have an idea on what might have happened - it's a site that mainly deals with population numbers, if you go on Austria, the population change this year is listed as "6.3k", they probably accidentaly put the exact same figure also for the gdp per capita rubric.
@SlovakShark@magyarpeterMP@RobertFicoSVK I don't get the sentiment on why repealing a law which potentially breaches EU legislation due to its alleged recent misuses, based off of principles of collective discrimination, is a "fascist" notion rather than one based off of the fundamental values of human rights.
@anotheranzz@Szabadsag1956@KenjiHun But Gen Z in general (18-29), according to the most accurate pollster Median, voted overwhelmingly in general for Tisza - 71% to 11%. If the gender divide carried on to younger populations, we can deduct that Gen Z men were actually (marginally) more likely to vote for TISZA
@anotheranzz@Szabadsag1956@KenjiHun In Hungary, the divide between women and men for voting preferences are quite different than in Western societies. Men are more likely to have voted for opposition candidates than women (but both sexes voted overwhelmingly more for TISZA than Fidesz-KDNP still).
okay I guess I have to talk about Péter Magyar here.
Let me just start with saying, in a very unladylike way, that you guys seem to have zero clue what happened in Hungary in the last two years, you completely miss the point, and you're a disappointing bunch.
Let's go.
Péter Magyar is set to become the next Prime Minister of Hungary.
He defeats incumbent Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, who has close political ties with Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump.
@Szabadsag1956@kkjjak1 Just a small correction - there are only a small handful of Hungarians in Slovakia holding Hungarian citizenship, as following Hungary's 2010 Nationality Law, Slovakia restricted the acquisition of dual citizenship with only a few exceptions.
@nikicaga@bravookil To be fair, under the Treaty of Trianon, Sopron was assigned to Austria, but it was later revised due to a popular uprising and a LON-supervised plebiscite.
@nikicaga I feel like the only place the Hungarian irredentism question was at least semi-resolved is Vojvodina, but that is probably due to the historic friendship between Serbia and Hungary being sort of revived as per Vucic and Orban, and Vojvodina's autonomous status
