Are people really hating on @github ?? Honestly they deserve a huge thank you for letting us use their services without charge for all these years. They will figure it out.
Anything and everything related to distributed systems is such a rabbit hole. At every point in my current project where I feel like I should have been satisfied I come across another thing that I wanna implement, like how do devs working at irl systems know where to stop.
If you are into System Design, you have to read this...
This paper presents implementation of :
- Amazon Dynamo: a highly available distributed key-value storage system
- Used by Amazon’s core services to ensure an “always-on” experience
- Trades strict consistency for availability, using versioning + app-level conflict resolution
System Design concept covered are
- Partitioning
- Replication
- Versioning
- Membership
- Failure Handling
- Scaling
Building a distributed search engine, just finished writing the crawler on GoLang used goroutines for multithreading, implemented shared job queue, depth and domain restrictions as well, will probably need to refactor some parts or maybe add more guardrails but works for now!
