#Ethiopia: GirlTechs project celebrates graduation of Inaugural cohort, empowering female students in STEM education
The GirlTechs project, an initiative aimed at empowering female high school students in STEM education, announced the successful graduation of its inaugural cohort. The project, supported by Coca-Cola Beverages Africa-Ethiopia (CCBA-Ethiopia) and Honeywell in Ethiopia, was implemented by iCog Anyone Can Code.
Over the course of two months, 1000 participants from #Addis_Abeba and #Sebeta received intensive training in computer programming and coding. The graduation ceremony highlighted the achievements of the participants and the establishment of coding clubs to ensure the project's sustainability.
The third cohort focused on strengthening the project's impact by benefiting learners, empowering teachers, and establishing coding clubs. The project has reached 1000 high school girls, providing them with valuable skills in coding, robotics, and game creation.
Initiated by Honeywell and President Sahle-Work Zewde in 2019, the GirlTechs project has completed three cohorts, starting with the Hope for the Fatherless Group Home and Life Training Center, then expanding to public high schools in Addis Abeba.
