I am truly honoured to receive the Silverback 10 Award from Uganda Tourism Association at the Uganda Tourism Annual Banquet 2026, held at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel; which was handed to me by the Minister of State for Tourism, Hon. Susan Nsambu Nakawuki.
Being recognized in this way by the tourism community, alongside very inspiring people in the industry, was so humbling.
It was even more special to share this memorable moment with my husband, Lawrence Zikusoka, and our children, Ndhego and Tendo.
Thank you all for your support, encouragement, and belief in our work. This recognition belongs to everyone who has been part of the journey.

My recent TED talk asks why, with over 8,000 satellites and AI models that would have seemed unimaginable a decade ago, nearly one in three people still worried about their next meal last year. My answer, framed from what I learned firsthand in Karamoja. https://t.co/t4GF0qHS9L
The same day, my TED Talk Why can't we better prepare for extreme weather? When it was published, I officially became a @NatGeo Explorer! As a geographer, this means so so so much to me! So much! https://t.co/wRcK82tCSo
Last week, Ambassador H.E. Maria Håkansson @SwedEnvoyUganda joined @FairtradeAfrica🌍 to launch a new partnership with Fairtrade Sweden 🇸🇪 to support greater youth participation in Uganda’s coffee sector.
With most farmers over 50 and most Ugandans under 30, engaging young producers is essential for a sustainable future. The Swedish funded initiative brings cooperatives, youth groups, and civil society together to ensure young farmers have a meaningful voice in shaping the sector.
Sweden remains committed to a vibrant civil society and a resilient, youth‑driven coffee industry in Uganda🇺🇬
On #InternationalDayofWomenJudges, the Embassy of Sweden 🇸🇪, in partnership with NAWJU and @IDLO, highlights✨Hon. Lady Justice Professor Lillian Tibatemwa Ekirikubinza for her distinguished service and contributions to advancing justice and the rule of law. #WomenInJustice

EXCELSA — Uganda’s Wild Coffee
Uganda has long relied on two coffee species: Arabica & Robusta.
But from the Zoka Central Forest Reserve comes a third, Excelsa.
Now under research at the NARO Kamenyamigo Sub-station in partnership with Makerere University @MakCAES, @ugwildlife & @kyagalanyicoffe this indigenous coffee could reshape the future of production.
Why it matters 👇
☑️ Highly tolerant to climate change
☑️ Fruits throughout the year (multiple harvests)
☑️ Strong economic potential for farmers
📊 Yield potential
• 1 tree ≈ 5 kg/season
• 2 seasons/year → 10 kg/tree
• 225 trees/acre → ~2,250 kg/year
