To all of my parliamentary colleagues involved in tonight's debate on this groundbreaking bill: no-one is interested in your carefully curated arguments, or your capacity to audition for your local debating team. South Australians want you to demonstrate compassion and respect.
If you or someone you care about is experiencing abuse or domestic violence it can feel overwhelming and like there is no way out. But help is available across South Australia. Here’s where to start: https://t.co/uKtm6t95j8
Thanks @Lauren__Dailey for this round up 💛
Why oh why does breakfast TV continue to give this woman a regular weekly platform? She is dangerous. Worse, she is taking these attitudes to her role as deputy chair of the Family Law inquiry. https://t.co/qrEO1wzwhB
Great work by our #V4C Advocates Rhi & Kirsty, who were onsite today for the opening of new crisis accommodation for domestic and family violence survivors @WSSSA @miclensink @embolden_sa https://t.co/UDGNwXm4so #endVAW
Our youth are the future of our vibrant state!
Fantastic to attend the @TeamYACSA AGM last night, where I spoke about the State Government’s progress on our new Youth Action Plan 2020-2022.
We’ve listened to our youth, who outlined their priorities for now and the future 🙌🏽💙
This Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme is invaluable, which is why the Liberal Government committed an additional $383,000, to ensure it continues.
The statistics demonstrate a vital need for the service which aims to protect women and children at risk.
📱A life-saving Liberal Government funded mobile phone app linking at-risk women directly to police and DV services has been provided to 46 women since it went live in November.
If this app has helped even one woman facing a violent situation at home, then it’s invaluable.
Re anti-boomer rhetoric: I am not a fan of singling out any group, but may I remind every1 that boomer women had very different opportunities from boomer men & r currently fastest growing group among homeless precisely because they put others needs ahead of their own? Thanks.
The theme for #NAIDOC2019 highlights the ongoing need to formally recognise the history of this country in a process of truth-telling. This always was and always will be Aboriginal land. #VoiceTreatyTruth
Are you a journo who's had some interaction with our project? We know you're busy but we'd love your feedback 🥰Quick 2 minute survey here: https://t.co/mC2w6LoRRF
Solidarity & congrats Rosie Batty on her recognition in the Queen's Birthday Honours List. If only that was the only reason we were talking about her this week 🙄 We humbly hope to build on her work by reducing perpetrators' 'right' to sympathy in our media every day.
“Nice to meet you”, said Rosie. “Yes,” said Ann O’Neill. “I wish we didn’t have to.” @KZiwica looks back on how Rosie Batty has reframed the way we talk about violence against women @angelhandsInc https://t.co/XwcFL2ekLU
So pleased @Voices4ChangeSA advocate, Stacey, will speak at @hit107#reclaimtherun tonight. Whether at home or in public, all women have the right to safety
I hope my journalist friends (if I can call you that) in the Australian media are doing OK. What you do matters and it is vital and the broader public appreciates the work you do. I’m sorry for what is happening. #AFPRaids#AusPol
Has our insatiable desire for crime shows contributed to the sensationalist reporting of #violenceagainstwomen? “Yes, headlines need to change but the uncomfortable truth is that we do too.” A must read! https://t.co/MVRuQCwZF0
We must make it easier for people leaving domestic or family violence to take their pets with them. Pets are important to all their families and especially those affected by trauma
Saddened to see how Courtney Herron’s murder framed as issue of homelessness, mental health or addiction.
Those are all BIG issues needing much work. But Courtney Herron died because a man made a choice to kill. Why are we afraid of saying that?
