Past and present students voicing our experiences with the fantastic @ArchaeologyChe1 department and staff who are sadly 'at risk' of planned redundancies.

This decision will have a significant impact on the student experience and staff working conditions and should not have been taken without wider consultation. Chester UCU urge everyone concerned to sign the petition here https://t.co/jMsjH8DCrC
RED ALERT to UoC students & staff! Managers are planning to AXE development weeks from 2022-3, alleging said weeks have 'no clear rationale' & are 'just a half term'(!?!). Were YOU consulted? How many staff & students even knew of this? More info at UCU branch meeting 17 Jan!
4 months campaigning against compulsory redundancy plans at the University of Chester @NoRedundancies@ChesterUcu
Thanks to @UCU negotiations & campaigning plus external support, we saved many jobs but...
1⃣many left through voluntary severance & won't be replaced...
In February 2021, the University of Chester issued notice of 86 redundancies. Since then, Chester UCU has sprung to life, and fought a no redundancies campaign that has reduced the number of posts at risk to 4. This is #OurChesterStory THREAD 1/8
As senior management teams across the country slash and burn their institutions, cutting excellent staff and departments without a thought, Chester’s VC gives us a snapshot of the perks and paybacks those same managers have come to expect. THREAD 1/7
PRIZES* for people who post pics of these flyers in Chester!!!
Let's see JUST HOW CLEARLY we can communicate our disapproval to the VC.
RALLY TO RECLAIM OUR UNIVERSITY, 12pm, Sat 24 July, Chester Town Hall.
*To be redeemed at the #reclaimouruniversity rally 😉
Last week our VC accused ‘disillusioned staff’ of damaging student conversion rates. Senior management never look to the role their own actions play in torching the institution’s reputation, staff and unions who speak out are always blamed.
Reading these words from UCU members it is clear how utterly demoralised and devalued staff at Chester feel. And some staff are still at risk of redundancy.
There is only one way we fight this. Every member must attend the Rally to Reclaim our University on 24th July.
Staff, including those still at risk of redundancy, have been emailed and asked to donate to a retirement gift for the Senior Pro-Vice-Chancellor.
The absolute *audacity* 🤬
Heritage & Archaeology staff have indeed received notification this pm that our 'at risk' status has been revoked (with as little rationale as it was instituted).
We fight on in support of colleagues at risk: SOLIDARITY!
THANK YOU to all who have supported us! @ChesterUcu
IT’S WORKING! Colleagues in history and archaeology have just been informed they are no longer at risk of redundancy. This is down to UCU plus an incredible and well supported campaign by @ArchaeologyChe1 and @VoicesChester
Let’s keep fighting, we CAN save every job!
CIfA and UAUK are pleased to announce that @uochester is the latest to receive accreditation for it's BA Archaeology programme. For more details see here https://t.co/0M3gk6h0a2
