@sepe_aeturnum You can pretty comfortably get by with 2 part time working adults in a household. My wife and I collectively only work ~48hrs a week and we own a home and have kids.

If I need more I work more, but we can go to spoons on a weekday pretty regularly if we chose.

I have a mortgage, I think its generally best practice for most people to get a paid off home before they retire, its low risk but low gains

@CovfefeAnon They've changed the rules in most actual powerlifting comps to get rid of these sort of things after it started getting too ridiculous, but this is from the disabled Olympics not a powerlifting association so it still exists there as the whole competition is a joke anyway.

That's not going to happen though so the only real alternative is to have a wife who works maybe a dozen hours a week at some flexible job, £600-1000/m extra a month is a big deal.

@Arwenstar Median wage 38k, 8% pension contribution (+whatever employer puts in) is minimum £250/month + whatever your partner earns. Do that for 40 years while paying mortgage and youll have plenty of money.

You can also save less when your kids are young then ramp up when they move out

Definitely worth it for someone earning 100k+, not so much if you're below £50k/yr.
