We (Briege and Clare) had the pleasure of joining @DunLaoghaireTT for one of their bi-weekly cleanups. Afterwards, we marked #IVD2023 with some sweet treats and celebrated the volunteers who were receiving their Advanced Volunteering Certificate today. Well done all! 👏
First stop today was to call into The Bike Hub - it was a pleasure to chat to Steve & Darren! We highly encourage you to stop by and learn about this wonderful social enterprise.
We left in some goodies for them and their volnteers who pilot trishaws and upcycle bikes! #IVD2023
Gary Hayes was named the Christine Buckley Volunteer of the Year for 2023 for his incredible contribution to two local organisations: RNLI Dun Laoghaire Lifeboat Station & Dalkey Community First Responders. Gary's volunteerism quite literally saves lives. https://t.co/QZ286sXXyc
As part of the national celebrations of #IVD2023, the team over at Volunteer Ireland who hosted the inspiring Volunteer Ireland Awards at the weekend!
We want to pay special congratulations to some of the individuals attending from DLR organisations including:
Elizabeth Morrin is the Volunteer Manager at @childreninhosp and was an incredibly deserving awardee in the Volunteer Manager category. We are privileged to get a small insight into her amazing work through when we connect with Children In Hospital Ireland.
Locally, we're using #IVD2023 as an excuse to celebrate volunteers and volunteerism all week - we're excited to connect with some wonderful volunteers and organisations and to take a few actions behind the scenes to celebrate the volunteerism that exists in our county. 💜
Did you know that today is International Volunteer Day?
This #IVD2023 is all about recognising the power of collective action and honouring the one billion volunteers worldwide who exemplify the spirit of #IfEveryoneDid.
In a world filled with challenges - inequality, global warming, injustice - we all carry our baggage. But where some feel a burden, others discover their strength and find inspiration to take action. Thank you to everyone who steps forward to volunteer. #IfEveryoneDid#IVD2023
