Israel was always headed for this point. It's been on the trajectory toward this moment in history from its very inception. The horrors we are seeing in Gaza were baked in from the beginning. The trigger was pulled generations ago, and only now has the bullet properly landed.
This is what Israel is. This is what Israel has always been. It's impossible to support Israel without also supporting its genocidal atrocities in Gaza, because there is no "Israel" separable from the factors which have given rise to those atrocities; trying to separate the two is an exercise in fantasy. A hypothetical Israel that wouldn't have done what Israel is currently doing would be unrecognizable from the Israel of today. It wouldn't even make sense to call it by the same name.
Israel was intended as a colonialist outpost of western powers from the very beginning to bludgeon the populations of west Asia into compliance with the interests of the global north, and that's what it has been from day one. This genocide isn't a freakish anomaly in Israel's nature but the ultimate manifestation of it. The infernal sprouts we are now seeing arise from seeds that were planted long before most of us were even born.
I recognized my 5 year old cousin on the news when she said her name, right before she told the reporter that she’s hungry and hasn’t had a meal in 2 weeks.
I’m walking into my clinic rn, where I can’t talk about any of this out loud.
Give me a wellness module for that.
@ell_enn I want to see her peel, core and dice the apples and deseed the oranges. Actually, no, no I don't, I don't have the time. More power to you. I don't entertain (even though I would like to) because I have zero bandwidth. Everything is already coming at significant personal cost.
@ayeshainam036@ell_enn Ayesha, is this the one you once brought to @HalalalaQ's baby shower? It was delicious! But @ell_enn I see the trifle adjacency. My peeve is chanay in fruit chaat
@odysseuslahori My parents were fans of OB and QP so we were made to sit and watch their quiz shows when we were children (and much too young to appreciate any intellectual discourse). It was lovely
All while having a full blown migraine and a bursitis episode. Things I haven't done are longer than my arm. I would like someone to do something for me. And by that I mean so the kid's laundry, clean my bathroom, vaccuum, take out the trash. That's what I need for me.
