Councillor Coleman notes that because Gardiner’s consumption site motion is an advocacy one it is “perhaps a clever way of getting around the usual in camera discussions that we would normally go to…”

Normally?! How often is this topic discussed in secret? We deserve to hear council’s views on these issues.

“That said it’s now out for the public to opine and watch what we do,” Coleman adds, implying again that previous discussions have been had, but the public couldn’t see them or opine upon them until “now”…

What else have we been prevented from seeing?

How are electors supposed to judge councillors when these things are decided in secret? They aren’t the provincial cabinet. This is absurd.

I think the people of Victoria are owed an explanation of what happened with the city's soon to be abandoned originally $1.6-million one year pilot project on Dowler Place.

This was the beginning of the mayor's new wellness initiative. It was conceived in secret, presented to residents as a core service, led to massive backlash including the suspension of a Victoria firefighter, and barely 12 months later we read in the newspaper that now the city has no intention to renew funding.

How was all of this allowed to happen? Why was there no public competitive process? What assurances do the people of this city have that it won't happen again?

Why should one more cent be entrusted to the government responsible for all of this?

One of the worst municipal governments in Canada which — by itself — turned the 900 Block of Pandora from a regular street in 2018 to a place that was featured in Poilievre social media videos and had its own Globe and Mail article in 2025.

It could have changed course in 2022. But it didn’t. And the entire NDP is now facing oblivion after deciding that protecting one municipal hall was worth starting a war that never ends.

How’s that war going so far, gang? Provincial party hanging by a thread. Federal wing annihilated.
