On this Yom HaShoah, the Michigan Senate adopted my resolution to commemorate Holocaust Remembrance Day. But the conditions feel so much worse for Jews since I first started introducing this resolution years ago.
Holocaust denialism is on the rise. Hate crimes against Jews are at a record high. Here at home, Temple Israel set ablaze last month harkens back to an era from history books.
Both political parties have an antisemitism problem, with candidates, podcasters and influencers on either extremes benefiting from trafficking antisemitism.
We must listen to Jewish voices in peril before it’s too late.
Our support in Oakland County continues to grow!
I am grateful for these trusted partners throughout the county. We are committed to ensuring the 11th District has strong, bold representation in Congress.
The repeated vandalism targeting a Jewish institution, a Jewish-owned business & now a private Jewish home are heinous acts of antisemitism intended to terrorize metro-Detroit’s Jewish community.
Law enforcement must escalate its investigations to bring these vandals to justice.

Many of the tools to carry out the insurrection were fashioned here in MI.
Our Dem majority applied lessons from Jan. 6 2021 to enact key election reforms to head off similar illegalities leading to Jan. 6, 2025.

The Oakland County Treasurer’s Office wishes all who celebrate a Happy Hanukkah! May this Festival of Lights bring you and your loved ones joy, peace, and prosperity.

Incendiary & irresponsible statements from our member of Congress — as our own intelligence is confident Israel was not responsible — offers nothing to assist Israeli hostages in unknown conditions & Palestinian civilians in need of humanitarian aid.
I’m calling on @FullCircle310 and @OBrienConst to quit dragging their feet and hire local union workers to build the Raymond E. Shepard House in Ferndale. Join me and sign the @MRCCUnion petition at: https://t.co/o37Uoq0Wau
This statement refuses to acknowledge 10/7 for what it was: a shocking act of terrorism.
Hamas violence is not some mere effect of resistance; it is a primary cause of instability in the region that prevents both Israelis and Palestinians from living in peace without fear.
Israel is experiencing its own 9/11. There is no both sides to this attack.
Hamas is a terrorist group mass murdering hundreds of innocent Israelis and taking women and children hostage.
The U.S. must stand ready to provide Israel with the support it needs to defend itself including humanitarian aid and funding for the Iron Dome.
Today, I spoke with @IsraeliPM about the appalling Hamas terrorist attacks in Israel. I offered our support and reiterated my unwavering commitment to Israel’s security. @FLOTUS and I express our heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost loved ones.
We wish everyone celebrating Rosh Hashanah a happy and sweet new year! May this year bring health, happiness and prosperity to all.

Today, we remember the 2,977 precious lives stolen from us on 9/11 and reflect on all that was lost in the fire and ash that September morning.
The American story itself changed on this day 22 years ago. But what could not — and will not — change is the character of this nation.
Today we honor the memory of all the brave souls we lost 22 years ago. May we always remember their stories, the courage of our first responders, and the sacrifices our troops made to protect us in the years that followed.
Thank you, @JeremyAllenMoss, and the new majority in Lansing for taking steps to prevent gun violence. While we can’t predict where and when it might occur, we can’t just hope it won’t happen again - we have to work to prevent it. These laws will absolutely save lives.
For nearly 7 yrs, our Gun Violence Prevention Caucus in #mileg, founded by fmr Rep. @VoteWittenberg, pushed for policies to prevent gun deaths & injuries.
Robert met w/ survivors, police, even NRA to find solutions — never against responsible gun owners but against gun violence.
Michigan does not:
Require background checks for long guns
Have a red flag law
Disarm domestic abusers
Restrict assault weapons
Limit magazine capacity
Regulate open carry

This Senate hearing is 50 yrs in the making, when #LGBTQ Michiganders first sought to include discrimination protections in Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act.
We must finally amend the act. We’re not asking for more than anyone else but we cannot accept less than equal protection.
Last night, I attended Jewish Federation’s forum on security following the anti-Semitic incident in Bloomfield Twp.
I’m incredibly grateful for Federation’s round-the-clock work to navigate our community around this specific episode & the many other looming threats we face. 1/
