Had a great time last week hosting students from Neighborhood House Charter School at Boston City Hall!
These 5th graders toured City Hall, learned about local government and public service, and asked some thoughtful questions along the way.
mentorship, and exposure can be. That’s why it was so inspiring to see the incredible work PREPPED Youth and Nelson Otuechere are doing to create pathways for our young people in the real estate industry and beyond.

Here’s your 60 Seconds in the Chamber ⏱️
This week: budget debates, youth jobs funding, environmental justice investments, new hearings on snow removal costs and property taxes, and resolutions recognizing the people and programs moving Boston forward.
Stay tuned, stay engaged.
A budget is a statement of values. If we believe in opportunity, stability, safety, and equity, then we have to protect the programs that help deliver them.
The Mayor’s proposed budget cuts $18 million from programs that help Boston residents work, stay housed, access food, care for children, support the arts, and build stronger communities.
These proposed cuts include:
• Equity Supports: $750K
• Housing Supports: $900K
• Public Safety Supports: $200K
These are not just line items. These are investments in young people, families, seniors, veterans, artists, small businesses, and neighborhoods across Boston.
• Cutting Women’s Advancement from $643,544 to $485,673
• Eliminating funding for the Human Rights Commission entirely, from $391,622 to $0
How are these cuts equitable when they target the very offices created to make our city more accessible, inclusive, and just?
From decades in healthcare to over 40 years of volunteerism at the Dudley Branch Library and mentoring youth in Roxbury, Ms. Greer-Guilford’s impact on Boston is truly inspiring. Happy 100th Birthday, Helen, and thank you for everything you’ve poured into our city.
Was so happy to celebrate 100 years of Helen Greer-Guilford, a proud Bostonian, community leader, and trailblazer whose life has been defined by service, resilience, and love for her community.
This week in the Chamber: advancing public safety, mental health response, climate resiliency, workforce development, and opportunity across Boston. Proud to support investments that help our neighborhoods stay safer, stronger, and more connected.
Stay tuned and stay engaged.
My remarks during today’s Equity Cabinet budget hearing. Now more than ever, we should be leaning into equity and continuing to send a clear message to Boston residents that every community deserves to be seen, supported, and invested in.
