CHINESE ROBOT BEAT USAIN BOLT
The Unitree Superman humanoid can jump over 2 meters and hit speeds of up to 45 km/h, faster than Usain Bolt's top speed record of 44.7 km/h. It was shown off at the Robot Olympics in Beijing, where it backed up those numbers live.
Before the run, engineers marked the jump height on a special scale right in the workshop, then took the robot to a real stadium at night to test its speed. The robot pushes off with its legs almost like a pro athlete, extends its knees mid jump, and lands without losing balance.
In the footage you can see the machine basically flying over the track, with only the light streaks from the lamps keeping up. So the record for fastest human on the planet has technically been broken, just not by a human.
