I'll be in grid square DM86 from Friday, 27 Sept through 5 Oct. Hope to get on the FM birds and hand out the grid for any who might need it. 73 DE WA5RR
Okie-Tex Star Party is coming up fast! Friday, 27 September until 5 October. I'm hoping for good weather this year. Last year was a 'wash-out' but it let me make other plans and visit several places in OK, CO and NM. In fact, I did my first POTA activation at Black Mesa SP, OK.
@WX4TVS I really need to get back out there on the birds. There's a star party starting on Friday and I will be in far NW Oklahoma and will get on passes during the day. 73 DE WA5RR
This has to be the longest standing ovation for anyone or anything I have ever witnessed.
4000 high school students in Normandy, France standing to honor our World War II veterans.
This area in northern France has not forgotten the events of 80 years ago.
Honored and humbled beyond words to be here with my daughter volunteering with the @bestdefense_ supporting their mission to “take care of the ones who took care of us” assisting World War II veterans as they return to the sand and soil on which they fought.
I've been at Keesler AFB in Biloxi, MS since Tuesday of last week and will be here for about ten more days. The hams from the Mississippi Coast Amateur Radio Club have been welcoming and I'm looking forward to participating with them during the upcoming ARRL 10-Meter Contest!
Clear skies, nice cool temperatures and excellent seeing conditions gave me the chance to see how my ZWO Dual-band filter works. I'd say it's a winner!
With the cloudy weather that moved in on Saturday, I managed to take the time on Sunday to accomplish my first POTA activation at K-2773 Black Mesa State Park, OK
Plans for activating FM birds are on hold. My star party site had horrible rain and I broke camp. I'm headed to Lamar, CO tomorrow and then will move to and activate DM87 on Wednesday. Might do some bird passes DM88 on Tuesday/Wednesday as well.
@PilotAstronomy It blew in and destroyed my tent/canopy combo. I had a backup tent which worked well but it started raining all afternoon Sunday and into the afternoon on Monday. I broke camp and am diverting to other locales!
I'll be in far NW Oklahoma starting on Friday (DM86) and will have FM satellite capability for eight days during the Okie-Tex Star Party. Plans are to be on FM birds as much as possible during the daylight hours.
The truck is packed (to the gills) with astronomy and photography gear. I ensured that I packed the Arrow satellite antenna and look forward to putting DM86/87 on the air along with Black Mesa State Park over the next 8 days!
