🎉 CONGRATULATIONS to Wyoming Area junior LUKE KOPETCHNY who scored his 1,000th career point tonight at home against Lake-Lehman‼️🏀

@LukeKopetchny1, a three-sport athlete, has been shining on the court & showing out for the Warriors after various seniors that graduated a team who made it to the PIAA State Tournament last season.

Kopetchny earned PIAA 4A Sportswriters’ All-State Third Team honors last season as well.

It’s also Luke’s birthday today — Happy Birthday, Luke!

WARRIORS DOWN DALLAS & ARE HEADED TO STATES‼️👊

@LukeKopetchny1 and @lukasjb_2 dropped 27 points each to co-lead 4-seed @WyomingAreaAthl (17-9) over #9 and 2-seed Dallas (18-10), final score 69-61 from Dallas HS!

With Dallas leading by 13 points early in the first half, Wyoming Area would go on a 9-1 run to begin the second quarter, switching tje momentum the Mountaineers had established. WA would trail by just two at halftime (26-24), before outscoring DAL by six in the third quarter (22-16 PTS) and finishing it off in the fourth in free throws.

Kopetchny shot a whopping 19 FREE THROWS, making 16 of them (84.2%) as a sophomore. Burakiewicz had three 3-pointers and was 4-for-5 from the line. @Ant1DeLucca also had three 3-pointers for 9 total points.

Jude Nocito finished with 30 points to lead the Mountaineers in his final high school career game.

Wyoming Area advances to the 2025 PIAA Class 4A State Tournament that kicks off the following weekend! (March 7th & 8th)… More info coming soon!

2024-2025 WVC DIV. 2 CHAMPS 🏆 WYOMING AREA WARRIORS

For just the second time in program history and the first since 1971, Wyoming Area clinches the division title! They were on point at Wyoming Seminary tonight, a team that had pushed them to overtime earlier, winning 62-40 tonight. More details on the game coming soon…

Wyoming Area is the first of five division champs to be crowned this year, and with February here, it shows just how competitive the divisions are at the top!
