@johnnyoldstyle@OsitaNwanevu my impression is the opposite of this: creators make their videos longer to accrue more watch time. algo shows full length thelonious monk concerts and stuff like this guy who does painting restoration (27 minutes)

@walterpols@rexsalisbury@BurnhamDC@presidiosf interestingly, when abandoned faux-traditional he had the architect design a building that could work for treasure island, Chicago or LA

@walterpols@rexsalisbury@BurnhamDC@presidiosf "Lucas submitted a Beaux-Arts complex festooned with eclectic ornamentation, including copper domes and arches that rested on columns adorned with robed figures"

@PaulS85990@mattyglesias they were going to give him the site but wanted him to change his original design which was faux-traditional and he refused

@burnowt@PicardBuddy@mattyglesias he wanted the most prominent spot for a weird Bellagio-era pastiche with domes. He refused to change the design of the building

@pirhanatrigger@noahlt depends on the concert, but the seats behind the orchestra are sometimes $30-45. Some shows have excellent seats for $100. Compared to sports, it seems entirely reasonable
@amyecheetham@rexsalisbury second this. have friends that are serious cyclists and I listen to their stories. and it’s often dangerous as a pedestrian.
@BilgeEbiri@yalereview thank you for this Bilge 🙏 "Beehive" is a favorite but wasn't aware of "Dream of Light" - recall being young seeing "Thin Red Line" opening weekend, talking with an "old" person next to me who had seen "Badlands" in the theater (now I'm that old of course)
@coryfromphilly also Philadelphia-born and the way some view San Francisco, which is the safest it has been in our lifetimes, in comparison is wild. it’s a city and will never been an Ivy League campus
