During surgery, the anesthesiologist noticed a missing tooth while intubating a patient with very poor dentition and multiple missing teeth. An X-ray revealed a small radiopaque object near the T1 level, but it was unclear whether the tooth was in the lung or esophagus. We were called in for an EGD in the OR, and sure enough, we found the tooth in the mid-esophagus. Using a Roth net, we safely retrieved it. I love GI.
