There may be some weakening showers and storms Saturday morning, but they are not expected to pose a threat. Additional storms are forecast to develop Saturday afternoon. Some of these storms could have strong to damaging winds. Isolated large hail cannot be ruled out.

🚤 Murphy Says: Safe Boating Starts Before You Leave the Dock! 🛟

Whether you're heading out on the lake for fishing, tubing, kayaking, or just relaxing on the water, preparation can make all the difference. Before setting out:

✅️ Check your boat and safety equipment
✅ Wear a properly fitted life jacket
✅ File a float plan with someone you trust
✅ Bring drinkable water, sunscreen, and extra clothes
✅ Watch for signs of heat illness
✅ Keep a first-aid kit and fire extinguisher onboard

Did you know? The majority of boating fatalities involve drowning, and most victims were not wearing a life jacket. Life jackets save lives, for adults and kids alike.

LOOK AT THE FACTS 💧

More than 75% of childhood drownings happen during NON-SWIM times.

70% of childhood drowning victims are NOT wearing swimsuits.

That means prevention and supervision matter far more than swimsuit color alone.

✅ Prevention Before Submersion:
• Always have a designated Water Watcher
• Ensure weak or non-swimmers wear proper life jackets
• Install barriers such as fences and pool covers
• Enroll children in swim lessons early, as young as 1 year old

👀 What is a Water Watcher?
A Water Watcher is a designated adult whose ONLY job is supervising swimmers. No phones. No distractions. No conversations. Active supervision saves lives.

⚠️ Know what drowning really looks like:
It is NOT like Hollywood. Most drownings are swift and silent. Rarely is there waving or yelling.

🎨 Why swimsuit colors still matter:
Bright, visible colors can help you quickly identify your child in the water, but color should NEVER replace active supervision and layered water safety practices.

The best water safety strategy is prevention before submersion.

Showers and embedded thunderstorms will spread back across the region Friday with additional showers and thunderstorms Friday night, lingering into Saturday. Locally heavy rainfall is possible, especially south and east of I-71. This will bring the potential for flash flooding.

Showers and thunderstorms are possible Tuesday afternoon and into the overnight. Some strong to severe storms are possible.

A line of thunderstorms will move through the region this afternoon, primarily between 3 PM and 9 PM. The line will be weakening by the time it reaches our area, so confidence on severe storms is lower.

(5/8/26) - Enterprise Products will be doing a quarterly test of their evacuation alarm today at 12:00 PM (noon). It should last approximately 5-10 minutes. If you are in the area of State Route 122 and Hart Road you may hear this alarm. THIS IS ONLY A TEST!

A WARNING means it’s happening now. Tacos are served, and it’s time to take action!

🌪️ Don’t wait until a warning is issued. Have multiple ways to receive alerts and know where you will seek shelter before storms move in.
