Today we pause to honor the nine courageous Charleston firefighters who gave their lives in the Super Sofa Store fire on June 18, 2007. Their bravery, selflessness, and steadfast dedication to protecting others will never be forgotten. As we observe this solemn anniversary, we carry their legacy forward with pride and gratitude, mindful of the cost of service and the strength of our fire service family. We will always remember their names, their heroism, and the lasting impact they made on our community.
