WORLDS BRACKETS ARE OUT, AND BO BASSETT OPENS TOMORROW AGAINST BIABANI 🇺🇸
Bassett starts at 65kg against Canada's Peiman Biabani, the #3 seed. Biabani has history with the guy Bo beat to make this team: Real Woods beat Biabani 3-1 at Worlds last year, then 3-2 in the Pan American final in May.
At 97kg, Kyle Snyder is the #1 seed and opens against the winner of Tokgoz (TUR) and Tumurbaatar (MGL). And look who's in his quad for a potential quarterfinal: Abdulrashid Sadulaev. Two more wins each and it's Snyder vs. Sadulaev in the quarterfinals. 👀
Both weights start tomorrow morning, with the first session at 1:30 AM ET and the semis at 7:30 AM ET.
Full brackets are up now on https://t.co/XbtWUX9kR4, in the comments.
A wrestling podcast that should come back is @WCMLPodcast. The TJ Williams episode is a must listen. He talks about how JUCO helped his growth in the sport. A friend that was an NJCAA AA in 2005 at Lassen CC sent me this some good names on that All-American board.
RIP Coach Ditka. All time Football Guy. The few times I got to meet/interview him were such a thrill. He was the definition of swagger and aura. Don’t make them like that anymore
The results are in and it's not a great story for the 3-point takedown.
In fact, it's a terrible one. The data supports some of the more cynical predictions when 3-point takedowns were proposed, so I suspect we'll hear some I-told-you-so's in the comments.
I analyzed every point scored in the last 6 NCAA National Tournaments, which totals 3,840 matches, between the best D1 wrestlers in the country. That's 1,920 matches in the 2-point takedown era, and 1,920 matches in the 3-point takedown era.
Here's what I found...
